Every artist has a beginning.

Mine didn't start with a business plan. It started with two little boys who needed haircuts and a mother who couldn't afford them.

So I bought a pair of clippers and did what mothers do. I figured it out.

To my surprise, I wasn't half bad.

A few months later, I enrolled in barber school, and more than twenty years later, I'm still doing what I fell in love with all those years ago: helping people see themselves a little differently when they leave my chair than when they arrived.

For several years, I worked in traditional barbershops. I loved the craft, the conversations, and the community. But one appointment changed the direction of my career forever.

A woman who was courageously walking through cancer asked if I would cut her hair but only on my day off. She didn't want anyone else in the shop. She wanted privacy.

That moment stayed with me.

It made me realize that grooming isn't simply about appearance. It's personal. It's vulnerable. It's no less intimate than a massage or a facial. Some moments deserve quiet. Some conversations deserve four walls. Some people simply need a place where they don't have to be seen by everyone else.

From that day forward, I began creating a different kind of experience.

Eventually, that journey led me into a private studio, where I found myself serving more and more men. What I discovered surprised me.

So many of them had mastered providing for everyone else, yet had never been taught how to care for themselves.

They knew how to keep going.

They didn't know how to rest.

Many spaces built for men offered another television, another game, another conversation. But very few offered permission to simply exhale.

So I made that my mission.

Here, you're invited to set the weight down.

And something beautiful happens almost every day.

Shoulders soften.

Breathing slows.

Conversations become quieter.

Sometimes, they stop altogether because sleep takes over.

It's not uncommon for someone to drift into such a deep rest that waking them at the end of the appointment almost feels unfair.

Time after time, I hear the same words:

"This was the best part of my week."

"I didn't realize how much I needed this."

"I never wanted to leave."

Those moments remind me that what I offer has never really been about hair.

Hair is simply the invitation.

Care is the experience.

Chateau St. Jazz L'Artiste—The home of my (Jazz) artistry was born from the belief that artistry isn't limited to one craft. Whether through barbering, skincare, makeup artistry, or simply creating a space where someone feels genuinely seen, every service shares the same purpose:

To help people leave lighter than they arrived.

Welcome to my atelier.

I'm honored you're here.
